The first officially reported cluster of ‘Corona Virus Disease 2019’ (Covid-19) cases was submitted to the World Health Organization.

On 31 December 2019, WHO’s Country Office in China picked up a media statement by the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission from their website on cases of ‘viral pneumonia’ in Wuhan, China.

These cases later turned out to be COVID‑19, the virus responsible for the COVID‑19 pandemic.
