Mughal Emperor Akbar abolished the Jizya tax on Non-muslim subjects.
Jizya was a tax paid by non-Muslims to Muslim rulers in areas governed by Islamic law. The tax was historically levied in exchange for protection, exemption from military service, and the right to practice one’s religion. Akber believed everyone had their own way to god and that they had the right to practice any religion whatsoever.
