Nirbhaya

Nirbhaya (Jyoti Singh) an Indian physiotherapy intern, victim. Her incident was the reason for the ‘Nirbhaya Act’ in India. In 2013, She received the International Women of Courage Award from the US Department of State, posthumously. Observes the ‘Nirbhaya Chetan Diwas’ on attack day. Her parents founded ‘Nirbhya Jyothi Trust’.

“On 16 december 2012 she was brutally assaulted and raped by 6 attackers in a moving bus in south Delhi. The incident led to widespread demonstrations and protests across the country. It also started changes in the laws about violence against women.”
