Babasaheb Ambedkar published ‘Annihilation of Caste’ Book in Bombay.

On 15 May 1936, B. R. Ambedkar self-published Annihilation of Caste in Bombay.

The text was originally written as a presidential address for the annual conference of Jat-Pat-Todak Mandal in Lahore.

The organizers objected to Ambedkar’s criticism of Hindu scriptures and requested revisions, but he refused to change even a single comma.

As a result, the conference was cancelled.

Ambedkar then printed 1,000 copies at his own expense and sold them for eight annas each.

The undelivered speech later became one of the most influential critiques of the caste system in modern India.
