Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (Bhimrao Ramji Sakpal) an Indian jurist, educationalist, politician, economist, social reformer, statesman. Father of the Indian Constitution. He was revered as Jai Bhim, Babasaheb. First Union Law Minister of India. The first Indian to receive a doctorate in economics abroad. Played a key role in the establishment of the Reserve Bank of India. He proposed to reduced working hours in India from 14 hours to 8 hours. He fought for the passage of the Comprehensive Hindu Code Bill, which provided important rights to Hindu women. Mahad Satyagrahi. Worked for the abolition of untouchability and caste. He converted to Buddhism along with his followers. Ambedkar’s autobiography is a textbook at Columbia University.
