The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was established.
On 10 March 1969, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was established in New Delhi by an Act of the Parliament of India.
It was initially raised with about 2,800 personnel to protect key public sector industrial undertakings.
Over the years, it expanded in strength and responsibilities and became a Central Armed Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Today, CISF secures major critical infrastructure across India, including airports, metro systems, nuclear plants, and other strategic installations.
