Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was established in India as the Crown Representative's Police.

On July 27, 1939, the force was raised as Crown Representative’s Police.

On December 28, 1949, the CRPF Act was enacted, and the force was renamed Central Reserve PoliceForce (CRPF).

On February 24, 1955, the CRPF Rules, 1955 were enacted.

On March 25, 1955, these rules were officially published in the Gazette of India.
