Indian revolutionary Madan Lal Dhingra assassinated British official Sir William Hutt Curzon Wyllie.

On 1 July 1909, Indian revolutionary Madan Lal Dhingra assassinated Sir William Hutt Curzon Wyllie at the Imperial Institute in South Kensington, London, during an "At Home" reception organized by the National Indian Association.

An engineering student associated with India House, he carried out the assassination in protest against British colonial rule and the execution, imprisonment, and deportation of Indian freedom fighters.

Dr. Cawas Lalcaca, a Parsi physician who attempted to intervene, was also fatally shot during the incident.

During his trial, Dhingra refused to recognize the British court and declared that he had acted for India's freedom.

On 17 August 1909, he was executed by hanging at Pentonville Prison in London after being convicted of the assassination.

His martyrdom later inspired many Indian revolutionaries, including Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh.
