The world’s very first Christmas tree with electric lights was displayed.

On 22 December 1882, the world’s first electric Christmas tree was created by Edward H. Johnson, an associate of Thomas Edison, at his home in New York City, USA.

The tree was decorated with 80 hand-wired red, white, and blue electric bulbs, which were rotated by a small motor and powered by an electric generator.

This innovation offered a safer alternative to candlelit Christmas trees and demonstrated the potential of Edison’s electric lighting system.
