First photograph of Earth from outer space was taken.

On October 24th 1946, The first images of Earth from outer space were captured by a German V-2 rocket launched by the United States.

These were black-and-white photographs taken from an altitude of about 65 miles (105 kilometers) using a 35mm motion picture camera aboard the rocket.

The images showed a curved horizon, revealing Earth’s curvature against the blackness of space.
