Global Energy Independence Day

Global Energy Independence Day is observed annually on July 10th.

It aims to raise awareness about sustainable energy sources and promote reduced dependence on fossil fuels.

Initiated in 2005 by Michael D Antonovich, a Los Angeles County Supervisor.

Some sources mention 2006 as the start, but 2005 is more consistently cited.

The idea of energy independence gained traction in the 1970s during the U.S. oil crisis.
