Global Handwashing Day

Global Handwashing Day is observed annually on October 15th.

It is to raise awareness about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.

Initiated in 2008 by the Global Handwashing Partnership, it aims to promote hand hygiene, especially in low- and middle-income countries where sanitation challenges persist.
