India hosted the Commonwealth Summit in New Delhi for the first time.

The 7th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), also called the Commonwealth-Summit, was held in New Delhi, India, for the first time from 23rd to 29th November 1983.

It brought together leaders from Commonwealth nations to discuss political, economic, and social issues affecting member countries.
