International Book Giving Day

International Book Giving Day is observed every year on February 14.

It is a global, volunteer-driven initiative that encourages people to give books, especially to children, to promote a love of reading.

The day was started in 2012 by children’s book enthusiast Emmy Broadmore and is now celebrated in many countries around the world.

People mark the occasion by gifting books to friends and family, donating them to schools, libraries, hospitals, or shelters, and leaving books in public places for others to find.
