International Clinical Trials Day

International Clinical Trials Day is observed on May 20th each year.

It commemorates the day in 1747 when James Lind, a Scottish naval surgeon, conducted what is often considered the first controlled clinical trial aboard HMS Salisbury. He tested treatments for scurvy among sailors, ultimately demonstrating the effectiveness of citrus fruits — laying the groundwork for modern clinical research.
