International Day against Fascism and Antisemitism
International Day against Fascism and Antisemitism is observed every year on November 9th.
It is to commemorate the anniversary of the “Kristallnacht” pogrom in Nazi Germany in 1938 and to raise awareness about racism, antisemitism, and fascism today.
Initiated by the pan-European network UNITED, the day serves to remember victims of the past while also focusing on countering contemporary hate ideologies.
Kristallnacht, or “Night of Broken Glass,” was a pivotal event that marked the start of mass violence against Jews, resulting in the deaths of over 90 people, the imprisonment of 30,000, and the destruction of synagogues and Jewish-owned businesses.
