The International Day for People of African Descent is observed annually on August 31st.

It is established by the United Nations General Assembly through resolution A/RES/75/170 in 2020.

It aims to promote the extraordinary contributions of the African diaspora worldwide and eliminate all forms of discrimination against people of African descent.
