International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict is observed every year on November 6.

It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2001 (Resolution A/RES/56/4) to draw attention to the environmental consequences of war and armed conflict.

It is to raise awareness about the environmental damage caused by war and armed conflict, and to promote the protection of natural resources as a foundation for lasting peace and sustainable development.
