 International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed anually on october 17th.

It was established by the United Nations in 1992, following UN General Assembly Resolution 47/196.

The day’s roots trace back to October 17, 1987, when over 100,000 people gathered at the Trocadéro in Paris, where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed, to honor victims of extreme poverty and hunger.

It aims to raise awareness about the need to eradicate poverty in all its forms and dimensions, emphasizing human rights and dignity for all.
