International Day of Action for Elephants in Zoos is observed annually on June 8th.
It is a global event aimed at raising awareness about the welfare of elephants in captivity and advocating for their relocation from zoos to accredited sanctuaries. Initiated in 2009 by In Defense of Animals (IDA).
