International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms

International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms is observed annually on 12 July.

The observance raises awareness of the global impacts of sand and dust storms on human health, agriculture, ecosystems, economies, and sustainable development.

It was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution A/RES/77/294, adopted on 8 June 2023.

The day promotes international cooperation to prevent, manage, and mitigate sand and dust storms through sustainable land management, early warning systems, scientific research, and climate resilience initiatives.
