International Day of Neutrality

International Day of Neutrality is observed annually on December 12.

It was declared by the UN General Assembly in 2017 to promote neutrality as a key element for global peace, security, and humanitarian access, particularly for aid organizations.

The day highlights the principle of states abstaining from wars and maintaining impartiality, a concept strongly emphasized by Turkmenistan, which was recognized as a permanently neutral state on this date in 1995.
