International Day of Nowruz

International Day of Nowruz is observed annually on 21 March.

It was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2010 through Resolution 64/253.

The day celebrates Nowruz, the traditional Persian New Year, which marks the arrival of spring and the renewal of nature.

Nowruz has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years and is observed by more than 300 million people across the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East, and other regions.

The observance promotes peace, cultural diversity, friendship, mutual respect, and solidarity among peoples, while recognizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage and traditions.
