International GLUT1 Awareness Day

International GLUT1 Awareness Day is observed annually on 10 July.

The observance raises awareness of GLUT1 Deficiency Syndrome (GLUT1DS), a rare genetic neurological disorder caused by mutations in the SLC2A1 gene that impair glucose transport to the brain.

The day promotes early diagnosis, access to appropriate treatment such as the ketogenic diet, research, patient advocacy, and support for individuals and families living with the condition.

It is marked through awareness campaigns, educational programmes, fundraising events, community activities, and global advocacy initiatives to improve understanding of GLUT1 Deficiency.
