International Homeless Animals Day

International Homeless Animals' Day is observed annually on the third Saturday of August.

It was established by the International Society for Animal Rights (ISAR) in 1992.

The day raises awareness about the plight of homeless, abandoned, and stray animals while promoting responsible pet ownership, adoption, and spaying and neutering to reduce pet overpopulation.

It encourages individuals, animal shelters, rescue organizations, veterinarians, and communities to work together to improve the welfare of homeless animals.

The observance is marked worldwide through adoption drives, low-cost spay and neuter programs, educational campaigns, fundraising events, memorial ceremonies, and other initiatives supporting homeless animals.
