International Women of Color Day

International Women of Color Day is observed annually on 1 March.

It was established by the National Institute for Women of Color (NIWC) in 1981 under the leadership of LaFrancis Rodgers-Rose.

The day celebrates the achievements, leadership, resilience, and contributions of women of color while recognizing the unique challenges they face because of the intersection of race and gender.

It also promotes equality, empowerment, education, social justice, and greater representation of women of color in all sectors of society.
