She narrowly missed the crown to Miss Colombia by just half a point.

According to pageant history recorded in Persis Khambatta's book Pride of India, the head judge later revealed that she lost a fraction of a point because she stopped smiling during a ten-minute deliberation on stage.

She represented India in Miss World 1960.
