Kalaram Temple Entry Movement was officially launched under the leadership of Ambedkar.
On March 2, 1930, Babasaheb Ambedkar launched the Kalaram Temple Satyagraha (the temple entry movement) in Nasik with a large, disciplined procession.
Ambedkar explicitly framed it as a struggle against caste discrimination and for the dignity and equal rights of Dalits, not just a question of entering one temple.
3 March 1930, about 15,000 Dalit followers picketed and demonstrated around the temple; in response, the Bombay government imposed Section 144 and ringed the temple with police/barricades.
Contemporary descriptions emphasize that the protest was disciplined and non‑violent, with volunteers organized in groups and instructed in non‑violence.
