Maharshi Karve

Maharshi Karve (Dhondo Keshav Karve) an Indian social reformer, professor, author.

 Pioneer in promoting widows’ education. Founder of the first women’s university ‘SNDT Women’s University’ in India. He advocated widow remarriage and married a widow himself. He founded the ‘Anath Balikashram’, a shelter for destitute women and children. He lived to be 104 years old and spent his entire life working for social causes, leaving a legacy of courage, equality, and education.
