‘Malayala Manorama’ newspaper started its printing.

On 14 March 1888, the Malayala Manorama newspaper was established by Kandathil Varghese Mappillai in Kottayam.

On 22 March 1890, its first edition was printed as a four-page weekly newspaper using a hand-operated Hopkinson and Cope press imported from London.

On 2 July 1928, the newspaper became a daily publication, after evolving from a weekly to a bi-weekly in 1901 and a tri-weekly in 1918.

On 1938, the government of Travancore proscribed the newspaper, which remained closed for nine years until it was relaunched on November 29, 1947 following Indian independence.

On 1995, the group launched its digital portal, Manorama Online, followed by the English news site Onmanorama in 1998.
