Martyrs' Day - India

Martyrs’ Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas in India, is observed annually on 23 March.

It commemorates the execution of revolutionaries — Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru.

They were sentenced to death and hanged by British colonial authorities on 23 March 1931 in Lahore for their involvement in revolutionary activities against colonial rule, including the assassination of British police officer John Saunders.

Their sacrifice remains a powerful symbol of courage, youthful defiance, and revolutionary patriotism in India’s freedom movement.
