Matthew Webb
Matthew Webb an English seaman, swimmer, stuntman. First person to swim the English Channel for sport without the use of artificial aids. In 1875, Webb swam from Dover (England) to Calais (France) in 21 hrs 45 min, covering distance of 40miles.
On the 24th July 1883 he made his fatal attempt to swim below the Niagara Falls. His body was found 4 days later at Lewiston.
