Mobile Number Portability (MNP) Service was initially launched in Haryana.

On November 25, 2010, the MNP service was first launched as a pilot in the Haryana telecom circle.

On January 20, 2011, MNP was officially launched nationwide in India.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the service by making the first call from a ported number.
