India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Mauritius’ highest civilian award ‘The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean’.

On 12 March 2025, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Mauritius’ highest national award, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean.

The award was presented by the President of Mauritius, Dharam Gokhool, during the National Day celebrations.

Modi became the first Indian leader to receive this honour, recognising his role in strengthening India–Mauritius ties.
