Sony Corporation changed its parent company name to Sony Group Corporation.

On 7 May 1946, the company Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K. (Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation) was founded in Japan by Masaru Ibuka, an engineer, and Akio Morita, a physicist.

It started with a small capital of ¥190,000 and about 20 employees.

On January 1958 as the date Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K. changed its name to Sony Corporation.

On 7 August 1991, the subsidiary Columbia Pictures Entertainment was officially renamed Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc.

On 1 April 2021, Sony Corporation changed its parent company name to Sony Group Corporation.
