National Film award recipient. First Indian actress to receive the Padma Shri award. Co-founder of ‘Ajanta Arts Cultural Troupe’. First patron of the ‘Spastics Society of India’ NGO. Nargis-Dutt Foundation established on her memory. She change her name to Nirmala Dutt. She married to film actor Suil Dutt.
