National Voters’ Day – India

National Voters’ Day is celebrated annually on 25 January across India.

This date commemorates the establishment of the Election Commission of India (ECI) on January 25, 1950 (shortly after India’s Constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950).

The ECI was set up under Article 324 of the Constitution to conduct free and fair elections.

It established by the Government of India in order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, and first celebrated 25 January 2011.
