Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient. Sangeet Natak Akademi Award recipient. He got the title ‘Mauseeqar-e-Aazam’. President of Cine Music Directors Association.

Chairman of the Indian Performing Right Society. He is particularly known for popularising the use of classical music in films.
