Nizam Ali Khan Cedes the Northern Circars to the British East India Company.
On 1 March 1768, through a second instrument (sanad), Nizam Ali Khan formally confirmed the British East India Company’s possession of the Northern Circars.
At that time, the Northern Circars comprised the five coastal sarkars of Chicacole (Srikakulam), Rajahmundry, Ellore, Mustafanagar (Kondapalli), and Murtuzanagar (Guntur), in present-day Andhra Pradesh.
By this act, he relinquished his remaining authority over them.
On 12 November 1766, Nizam Ali Khan made a treaty with the British East India Company and agreed to grant the Northern Circars in return for payment and military support.
On 23 February 1768, he signed the Treaty of Masulipatam and renewed his alliance with the British during the First Anglo-Mysore War.
