Britain's first Muslim war heroine,
Noor Inayat Khan
Noor Un Nisa Inayat Khan Indian-origin British spy, author. Great-great-granddaughter of Maharaja Tipu Sultan of Mysore. She was recruited into the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) in 1942. First female wireless operator to be sent from the UK into occupied France to aid the French Resistance during World War II. She was one of only two WAAF members to receive the George Cross, the highest honour for bravery.
