Pingali Venkayya was designed the Swaraj flag for the Indian National Congress.
On 31 March 1921, Pingali Venkayya presented a draft of the Swaraj Flag to Mahatma Gandhi at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Bezawada.
He originally designed the Swaraj Flag for the Indian National Congress, and it was widely used during the freedom struggle as a symbol of protest and unity.
The early Swaraj Flag had red and green with a charkha and was later refined with a white stripe.
In August 1931, the Indian National Congress finalized the tricolour arrangement—saffron, white, and green.
On 22 July 1947, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the national flag of independent India, replacing the charkha with the Ashoka Chakra.
This decision finalized the design of the present national flag for the entire country.
