Planning Commission of India was established.

On 15 March 1950, the Planning Commission of India was formed by the Government of India to formulate and oversee the country’s Five-Year Plans for economic development.

The Planning Commission of India was abolished on 1 January 2015 by the Government of India.

It was replaced by NITI Aayog, which was established the same day to serve as the government’s new policy think tank.
