Potti Sreeramulu

Potti Sreeramulu an indian freedom fighter, revolutionary, social reformer, engineer.

Founding Father of Andhra Pradesh.

He got the title ‘Amarajeevi’.

He undertook hunger strikes to secure temple entry for Harijans (Dalits), achieving success through non-violent means.

He began a 58-day hunger strike in Chennai (then Madras) demanding a separate Andhra state for Telugu speakers.

His death on December 15, 1952, triggered massive protests, leading to the creation of Andhra State on October 1, 1953, with Kurnool as its capital.

He also took part in the Salt Satyagraha and the Quit India Movement, facing several imprisonments under British rule.
