The BSF submitted an affidavit in the Punjab and Haryana High Court confirming the transfer of Bhagat Singh’s pistol.
On May 22, 2017, the Border Security Force (BSF) submitted an affidavit to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, confirming that Bhagat Singh’s pistol had been transferred from the BSF museum in Indore to Punjab.
The affidavit was filed by BSF Deputy Inspector General Arun Kumar Tambe on behalf of the BSF. The court was informed that the transfer order was issued on April 25, 2017.
This historic weapon was used by Bhagat Singh to kill British Assistant Superintendent of Police John Saunders outside the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Lahore on December 17, 1928, in retaliation for the death of freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai.
