On 18 February 2014, the Lok Sabha passed the bill with a voice vote.

The Rajya Sabha passed the bill two days later, on 20 February 2014.

On 1 March 2014, it received Presidential assent, making the creation of Telangana legally official.

The Act commonly known as the Telangana Act, is an Act of the Parliament of India.

The Act split the state of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh state.
