Rudolf Diesel (Rudolf Christian Karl Diesel) a German inventor, mechanical engineer.
Inventer of the Diesel Engine.
The fuel used in the engine was named after Rudolf Diesel as diesel fuel.
His engine was more fuel-efficient than steam and petrol engines.
He received a patent for his engine in 1892.
The first successful diesel engine was built in 1897.
His engine works on the principle of compression ignition (no spark plug).
He designed it to run on cheap and different fuels, including vegetable oil.
His engine is widely used in trucks, ships, trains, and industries.
He became wealthy and internationally famous because of his invention.
He disappeared on 29 September 1913 during a sea journey and is officially recorded to have died on the same date.
His body was later identified from personal belongings found at sea.
