Chhatrapati,

Sambhaji Maharaj

Sambhaji Maharaj / Shambhuraje (Sambhaji Bhonsale) an Indian emperor, author, poet, scholar, linguist.

Elder son of Chatrapathi Shivaji.

Second Chhatrapati of the Maratha kingdom.

In his reign of nine years, Sambhaji fought around 120 battles and never lost a single one, except for his final campaign against Aurangzeb.

He successfully fought simultaneously against the massive Mughal Empire, the Portuguese, the British, and the Siddis.

Sambhaji captured and tortured by Aurangzeb for over 40 days to force him to convert to Islam.

He refused, choosing death over dishonor.

He was revered with the titles “Chhava” and “Dharmaveer.”
