On 24 June 1987, Satyam Computer Services Limited was founded in Hyderabad, India, by B. Ramalinga Raju.

During the 1990s and 2000s, the company grew into one of India's leading information technology and business process outsourcing firms with a global presence.

On 7 January 2009, founder B. Ramalinga Raju admitted to a massive accounting fraud, triggering one of India's largest corporate scandals.

On 13 April 2009, Tech Mahindra acquired a controlling stake in Satyam through a government-supervised bidding process.

On 21 June 2009, the company was rebranded as Mahindra Satyam.

On 25 June 2013, Mahindra Satyam was formally merged with Tech Mahindra.

Following the merger, the Satyam and Mahindra Satyam brands ceased to exist, and the business became part of Tech Mahindra.
