Save Democracy Day – India

Save Democracy Day in india is observed anually on october 11th and May 18th.

In October 11th it is to commemorate the birth anniversary of the freedom fighter and political leader Jayaprakash Narayan.

This day honors his pivotal role in leading the agitation against the Emergency imposed in India between 1975 and 1977.

In 2018, the Indian National Congress announced it observe May 18 as Save Democracy Day to protest what it called the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) attempts to undermine democratic institutions.
