Forty CRPF personnel were killed in a suicide terror attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.

On 14 February 2019, a suicide car bomb targeted a convoy transporting Indian soldiers on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway.

Adil Ahmad Dar, a 22-year-old local from Pulwama, drove the explosive-laden vehicle.

The attack, known as the Pulwama attack, killed 40 CRPF personnel.

The Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility.

India withdrew Pakistan’s Most Favoured Nation trade status, raised customs duties, and carried out Balakot airstrikes on a JeM camp on 26 February 2019.

Investigations identified Pakistani operative Umar Farooq as a key bombmaker, and security forces later killed several JeM militants linked to the plot, including a militant identified as Kamran.
